BIKE RIDE TO SILVERHILL WOOD

Sundays outing for Golden Valley karate saw them reaching Silverhill, the highest point in Nottinghamshire at 205 metres, and is crowned with a statue of a miner in memory of all the coal mines within the area.

On a clear day five counties can be seen amid the vast panoramic views. Silverhill Wood is the site of the former Teversal and Silverhill collieries. The former being sunk in 1868 and being closed in 1990 and was famous for having the shallowest shaft in Nottinghamshire.

LASER QUEST

At the last outing the club was battling it out at laser quest. Of course the adults won the trophy!

The juniors won the first game but the adults got wise to their tactics of hiding and shooting them in the back. The next two games were close and the tactics changed as we covered each other's backs but it was still good fun as the juniors hunted in packs.

We must be getting some thing right! Looking forward to the next challenge. It could be skiing at a winter sports centre.
